2010, the countdown to extinction???

Opening the discusion about if you beleive that 2012 will be end or not, and what are youre tought about it.

I'm not sure what to think: I've done astrophysics in college, even my professor wich was a multi displinary Doctores (mathmatics, physics and astrophysics) was not able to assure what will happen when we pass in front of this nothingness...our sun might expend, or poles might shift, nothing may happen but it seems no one is able right now to answer it.

Plus almost all civilisation who build pyramid predict that (Egyptian, Incas, Mayas, even Saxons ) have a prediction on this day.

But , so many times the end pf world was predictesd...and it was terminated 6 times already (Mass extiction)

So what are youre tought!!!

I believe that nothing exists and that everything including myself is just a mental construct floating around in my non-existant sick and twisted mind. As such I have decided to imaging that everything will continue pretty much the way it is at the moment so you can all rest assured that all is well.
I think that the last time the polls shifted was around ten thousand years ago but as nobody had satellite navigation there wasn't too much of a fuss.

My bad, last geo magnetic reversal was 780000 years ago and we are apparently over due for the next one. Having said that it's a five thousand year process so I don't think that it's going to kill us all in one day.
As for the astrological allignment, it's been going on for years and the most precise point happened in 1998

If it weren't for my son, I would say bring it on. This planet needs a facelift, we have messed it up with our greed for far too long. I just hope that if and when it does come I can be with my family and we can all go down together. Its a crappy subject but deep in my heart I believe that nothing is going to happen. The human race loves fear itself. Its like whenever it is going to snow, the media makes such a huge deal out of it that everyone runs out to the store to buy 5 gallons of milk, and a ton of bottled water. Are you kidding me????? How long do you seriously think you are going to get snowed in for? So in summary its all sensationalized and whatever they have to do to sell more books and movies is what they willl push for. Not sure what to believe. anything can happen! Maybe that is the date we open the stargate , or jesus returns to judge the living and the dead. I don't know cause I can't see the future. If I could I would have won the lottery by now. If something does happen I know I've done good in this world and if there is an afterlife I hope I make it there.

how about we all hush up and sit back in out chairs and reach over to what should be next to all you guys aswell and crack open that cool nice refreshing beer and sit back and enjoy life whilst we still have one, there is no point in sitting here debating weather the world will end or not, and to me who cares, cuz you gotta realise it could end tomoz it could end next week, your life could end just like that by the hands of some idiot who could quite happly end your life for the sake of it, for me ill choose when my world will end, and hopefully thats when im 90 odd old n still sucking on a nice cool beer till my candle finally blows out, if you belive all ya read these day n ages then ull belive adam n eve were brother n sisters n were all brothers n sisters well *BEEP* that cuz if i found out my misses was my sister cuz of that adam n eve crud then well help me god, cuz you wouldnt catch me sticking my candle in her candle holder thats for sure, so whilst you guys sit ere n debate about when the world might end, this , that n the other i can tell you now my world aint ending.............my worlds just begun.

Here here Toxic ! Nice to see a post from you my friend. The bottom line, is as Toxic says, you never know when your time is gonna come. So live life to the fullest. Always try to experience new stuff, and dont be afraid to try things out. I always love it when someone brings something strange to eat and people are like ewwww I am not even gonna try that. WHY NOT? It wont kill you and perphaps you will like it. I have always tried to keep an open attitude about anything and everything. Its all just life experiance. So in general just do whatever your heart desires, becuase you will never know when you will regret not doing something that you had the chance to do at one time, and live life to the fullest capacity that you can.

I understood your point, we are a small rock rotating at 37000km/s in the universe. Of course ton of ton of asteroid pass near us every day (From an astrophisycal way). Of course we only monitoring what happen in our sky for 2000 years, and we don't understand it all even now (150 years of astrophysics made us discover great thing, but we haven't seen anything yet...), but still the questionning is about that is a natural way of comprehe nd the universe. i'll say too that :

-If anything happen: this will be an unique encounter of what the universe can do in all is beauty, i don't feel bad about this, this event worth living it, more then anything you can imagine. Becoming one with the universe again... it's the thing that all molecule tend to accomplish by gathring energy, so it was meant to be.

-If nothing happens:

This is what i fear most in fact: Why???

All the great population and civilasation of man predict the end of worlds (Not all in 2012) the reasons is that all conscient being need to fell safe is a greater being who can judge is action, (Divine justice) If nothing happen , lots of person will loose their beleive in the "judgement" and they become desabused, at this moment they will have nothing to loose, and that what can happen of worst: Much people, with nothing to loose...not even their "souls"

There is a whole huge topic of what people believe in terms of "divine" power. I will sum my belief up quickly. I live my life with basically one simple rule. Treat people the way you would want to be treated. End. That should sum up all religions, beliefs, etc... As a species we all feel the need to be better than the next guy. Not so if you ask me. But this would be a whole different topic.

I think that when the world doesn't end on December 21st 2012 it will be exactly what it was always destined to be, a non event. Nobody is going to freak out, nobody is going to lose their faith, people will continue to believe the same shit they did already and those that thought that the world was going to end will find some reason why the calculations were incorrect and just pick a new day for armageddon. It will be exactly the same as all of the other times that the world was going to end. I haven't heard any predictions for 2050 something but rest assured that when it comes around (and I may still be around to tell you I told you so) there will be another doomsday prophecy and people will once again be talking about it.
Anyway the world as we know it ended over ten years ago when the millenium hit (It happened GMT if anyone is interested), the vatican fell as predicted by Nostrodamus which happened just before the world ended for the bajillionth time in 2008 (also predicted by Nostradamus).
While I have no doubt that the world as we know it will end at some point in time, I do not believe that anyone can tell me exactly when that will happen. unless of course it's all a government conspiracy who as we all know are in cahoots with the aliens and it's Mulder who is making the prediction!!!!! I DO BELIEVE!!!!!

For the rest, of course if the doomsday is not 2012 it will be post poned, each days we face thousands ways to be extinguished not even knowing about it...This things that we do, putting an date on our extiction is way to made ourself taking conscience of what is surronding us... Even the smallest thing is as importnat as the bigger one in our universe, all is transformed, nothing created, nothing disappear, it just transform(First physics laws of our universe)So anyway is there an end??? is there a beginning...was there anything in anyplace anywhere anytime??? Of course not, every thing happen because of it's chance of happening, It's the Chaos theory!!!!

Will the world end on 2012?

Well i guess were all going to have to wait for the year to come around and see for ourselves. The world might not even end it could be the start of some kind of new rebirth for mankind. But i just think that's horse@#*$ and another day will just pass us by. More than likely the end of the world would be caused by mankind in the form of nuclear war, some kind of super virus, robots with ai turning on us, destroying our environment and so on and so forth.

All I can say is that if the world ends on December 21st I'm going to be really pissed off as it's the day before my birthday. I guess that in 2012 I'm going to have to start celebrating early!!!!!!
As for for Gil's comment about the smallest and greatest things being equal, well along that line of reasoning lie questions such as "what value a human life?" Gil if you start talking about eggs and omlettes then I'm going to start worrying.
As to the end of the world, I think that no matter what happens the world will be just fine, the earth is not in trouble it's us that are in trouble. There have been many extinctions over the course of history, we have had massive meteor strikes, ice ages, geomagnetic reversions and life still goes on, the only thing that changes is the form in which it takes. I am sure that come what may, nuclear war, plague, solar flares, meteor strike the human race in some form will survive for many milennia to come. There will still be small vestiges clinging on to life dotted around the planet, the only real questions that remain are who will survive and what quality of existance will be left to them.
As to nothing being created or disappearing I believe that you are refering to the first law of thermodynamics, if you wish to see the guaranteed end of the human race then I suggest you look at the second law.

The newton law about thermodynamics only aplly to our planet, we use Plank red dispertion theory to calculate in space.

According to the mayan calender the world is not going to end. Just the mayan calender is going to reset like it has in the past.
