| When the new PS3 comes out does anyone think they would give up their PS3 (fat) for the newer model? I personally will not because it has no ethernet or HDMI and why have a PS3 without optimal graphics? | |

| I was talking about this a little on the radio the other day in my morning show.
The Slim is $299 while the ps3 regular will stay at it's typicall $399 - $500
They don't give many details but have stated the HD will be 130gig
My point was simple
PS2 fat = 50 dollars and the PS2 slim = 75-100 dollars This was because they upgraded the system in the ps2 slim and as a result they charged more for it.
In the case of the PS3 they are making the slim cheaper which would only indicate that it's a downgrade from the ps3 regular, In addition I think they have made it this way for a reason
The PS3 has only unlocked half the abilities it has, While the PS3 slim will be fully unlocked.
Whatever they are hiding inside the PS3 which I think most of us already know it's a blue ray burner and a processer that you cannot buy yet along with 2 more sticks of mem.
Regardless the price of the ps3 regular is staying put which means that to drop the price they lose money, So they made the slim which is cheaper but fully unlocked.
So which one what you rather have?

| i think that PS3s are like the antithesis of the normal tech development system. with time tech usually gets better but PS3s just get worse. it may have been $600 but the original 60G & 80G are still the best | |

Just get an external harddrive and backup all your stuff to there and then buy a new 2.5" Sata laptop harddrive for the ps3. (It should cost around $200 or so total)

| When the inevitable happens, and the PS3 breaks down, I'll probably go out and pick up the slimmer model. Have you guys ever taken a pressurized gas duster and blasted your PS3 ? WOW I keep the house clean - where did that GIANT dust cloud come from ? I had to open the windows after that | |

| My PS3 died once. It really sucked. Basically everything worked except for games. It just couldnt read the games. Thank God for extended warraties, but it was hard not having it for about a week. You start to go through withdrawls. | |

| I went through two withdrawals. One was from the XBox 360. I had to wait like two-three weeks. Then the net bill wasn't getting paid so that was more withdrawals. Then like after about a half a month got the net back and my first PS3. Then my 60Gig died cause of the motherboard was damaged or some stuff like. So I got a replacement which is my new 80Gig one. And it's being taken care of. No more video game withdrawals for me ever again!! But I would get the slim though, cause I have no need for HDMI cables. I'll only get the slim when this one dies. ^_^ So slim all the way baby!! | |

| my PS3 did that too Juice. it just refused to read games but it was under warranty luckily. i bought it when they only had SixAxis non-DualShocks. So i traded it in and got a new PS3 right when the metal Gear bundle came out. I basically got a free controller upgrade and a free copy of Metal Gear Solid 4 | |

| I can't even PLAY without the Six Axis Dualshock Controller The old ones are much less reactive, n I get Owned ! I couldn't fly a Warhawk without a Dualshock either. Bigtime says I'm not even ALLOWED to participate in Clan Tournaments or Matches without a fully charged Six Axis Controller I second that opinion. They make a BIG(time_vvv) difference | |

| Speaking of controllers.... My R1 button, you know the one that you really need to kill people, doesnt react all the time, I bought a new one, and it worked fine for a few weeks, and now its hesitating again. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just my fat fingers? | |

| It especially hurts when you suck at all other weapons except for shotgun, like me. So that golden opportunity just flies by and you end up dancing with the other guy hoping to get him again before he gets you. | |

I'm sure it must be your fat fingers causing this problem. Try eating a balanced diet richer in fresh fruit and vegetables Are you using a Dualshock Controller ? Cause the old (lighter and less responsive) ones just don't work at all. The only reason I even keep them around is for when we forget to charge the Dualshocks, or need them for 4 player games. If you ARE using a Dualshock Controller, then please refer back to the first line of my reply

| Wow ! A side of Cat I have never seen before. :-) I will be sure to eat celery sticks while playing killzone from now on. I do have the dual shock controllers, and still I have the problems. I probably just am too rough with it. :-) But thank you for the nutritional advice ! | |

| I just got a dual shock controller as my old six axis one was getting a little worn to say the least. I did notice one big difference, it is much easier to click the right stick down than the left. The resistance level is so low that I often find myself performing a melee during aggressive close quarters when trying to turn and shoot. Does anyone else have this problem or should I take it back to the shop?
As to the PS3 slim, it looks like the only tangeable differences are a bigger hard drive, Bravia control for HDMI and lower power consumption as they moved the cell to a 45nm production process. I don't see any reason to move to the slim unless your hard disk is full, you have a sony bravia tv and a really high electric bill.

| Maybe you should eat a well balanced diet also. This is Cat's advice. | |
